MLB: Yanks Expected to Slash Payroll
Buster Olney reports that the Yankees plan on cutting payroll next year rather than increasing it. This likely means they will not be major players in free agency this winter which is what Poppickle's Eric Engberg has been saying all along. The Yankees have a lot of things to consider over the next couple of years before adding talent that significantly increases the payroll.

MLB: Roy Halladay Rumors Heat Up
Blue Jays President and CEO Paul Beeston told the New York Post on Friday that Roy Halladay is not interested in staying with the Blue Jays and he is not anticipating him being with the team past next season when his contract expires. Beeston says Halladay is interested in playing for a franchise that has a chance at competing for a championship now and not several years down the road.

MLB: Holliday Race Down to Three Teams?
Foxsports.com's Jon Paul Morosi writes that the bidding for Matt Holliday's services is going to come down to three teams: the Red Sox, Angels, and Yankees. It is too early to tell what the market will bear and I am not so sure it is as cut-and-dry as he says it is. His basis for this is those three teams have a need for a left fielder and will be the teams most willing to meet Boras' asking price.
