MLB: Mets Deal for Gary Matthews, Jr.

Just days after Carlos Beltran revealed to the Mets that he had arthroscopic knee surgery and may not be ready by opening day the team went out and acquired Gary Matthews, Jr. from the Los Angeles Angels for relief pitcher Brian Stokes.

The "Baywatch" saga has come to an end in New York as Jason Bay has agree to a guaranteed four year contract worth a reported $66 million that has a vesting option for a fifth year.

MLB: Mets the Only Team Bidding on Jason Bay?

At one time it was believed that the Red Sox, Angels, Mariners, Mets, and potentially the Cardinals all had an interest in free agent left fielder Jason Bay. Now it appears the number of teams seriously pursuing Bay is down to just the Mets.

MLB: Are the Cards the Only Team Negotiating With Matt Holliday?

Matt Holliday is widely considered the top available free agent this winter yet we have heard very little about teams negotiating with Holliday's agent Scott Boras. Is it because of Boras' outlandish claims that Holliday deserves a contract on par with what Mark Teixeira got from the Yankees last year, or, is it because the big market teams like the Yankees and Red Sox are not in the market for a player of Holliday's ilk this winter?

MLB: Johnny Damon Sets Asking Price

It is becoming increasingly apparent that Johnny Damon will not be a member of the New York Yankees next season. It is being reported that Damon is looking for a salary comparable to the $13 million he received this past season from the Yankees.

MLB: Mets Make Jason Bay an Offer

The Mets have reportedly offered Jason Bay a 4-year deal worth $65 million which is $5 million more than the Red Sox were offering. Bay has balked at taking the deal thus far and is still holding out for a 5-year deal.

MLB: Changes Are Coming in Detroit This Winter

With the economy bottoming out in Detroit and no light at the end of the tunnel in terms of a turn around in the Detroit area the Tigers are destined to be a completely different looking team come next season. The team has already decided that free agents Aubrey Huff and Jarrod Washburn likely will not figure into the plans for next year and trade winds have been swirling around Detroit in relation to other players on the roster.

MLB: Adrian Gonzalez on the Move?

After Matt Holliday the next biggest star drawing the most speculation in regards to what team he will be suiting up for next spring is San Diego's Adrian Gonzalez. Gonzalez' likeness was left out of initial mailings to season ticket holders leading to speculation that a trade will come sooner rather than later.

MLB: Mets Will Not Pursue Holliday or Bay

Take the New York Mets off the list of potential suitors for Matt Holliday and Jason Bay. Adam Rubin for the New York Daily News is reporting that a team insider informed him the asking price for either left fielder is expected to be too high for the Mets to consider making a serious offer.
