MLB: Jason Bay Signs With the Mets

The "Baywatch" saga has come to an end in New York as Jason Bay has agree to a guaranteed four year contract worth a reported $66 million that has a vesting option for a fifth year.

MLB: Mets the Only Team Bidding on Jason Bay?

At one time it was believed that the Red Sox, Angels, Mariners, Mets, and potentially the Cardinals all had an interest in free agent left fielder Jason Bay. Now it appears the number of teams seriously pursuing Bay is down to just the Mets.

MLB: Mets Make Jason Bay an Offer

The Mets have reportedly offered Jason Bay a 4-year deal worth $65 million which is $5 million more than the Red Sox were offering. Bay has balked at taking the deal thus far and is still holding out for a 5-year deal.

MLB: Boston Reaches Agreement with Mike Cameron

The Red Sox and Mike Cameron have tentatively reach and agreement on a two-year deal that would make him Boston's starting left fielder next season. The deal is pending Cameron passing a team physical this week.

It is being reported that top free agent pitcher John Lackey is in Boston to take a team physical Monday. This is an indication that the team is close to agreement that would bring Lackey to Boston.

MLB: Yanks Expected to Slash Payroll

Buster Olney reports that the Yankees plan on cutting payroll next year rather than increasing it. This likely means they will not be major players in free agency this winter which is what Poppickle's Eric Engberg has been saying all along. The Yankees have a lot of things to consider over the next couple of years before adding talent that significantly increases the payroll.

MLB: Angels – Jason Bay Over Matt Holliday?

FOXSports.com reports that Angels owner Arte Moreno told a group of reporters that he could see the Angels making an offer to Jason Bay, but, not Matt Holliday. This comes just days after the Angels went on record saying their top priorities this off season are retaining John Lackey, Chone Figgins, and Vladimir Guerrero.

MLB: Adrian Gonzalez on the Move?

After Matt Holliday the next biggest star drawing the most speculation in regards to what team he will be suiting up for next spring is San Diego's Adrian Gonzalez. Gonzalez' likeness was left out of initial mailings to season ticket holders leading to speculation that a trade will come sooner rather than later.

MLB: Jason Bay Prefers Boston

Jason Bay's agent tells the Providence Journal that while he has talked with other teams about his client the Red Sox still remain his top choice. That is good news for the Sox who have scrambling to find a Plan B in the event they fail to re-sign Bay.

MLB: Mariners Rumors Heating Up

With the rancid Adrian Beltre contract coming off the books and additional $20 million or so in other contracts expiring the Seattle Mariners have some money to play with this off season as it looks to improve on last year's 85-win season. They are already being linked to some of the bigger names in free agency, but, the big question is will they cut exorbitant checks to over-hyped talent like they did with Beltre and Richie Sexson or will they spend it more wisely?

MLB: Cards Interested in Nady?

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch is reporting that the Cards have expressed an interest in free agent outfielder Xavier Nady, who spent most of the season on the disabled list, as their plan B in the event they fail to re-sign Matt Holliday or lure Jason Bay to town.

MLB: Marlins Dangling Dan Uggla?

In true Marlins fashion it is expected that they will try and deal second baseman Dan Uggla this off season before his salary gets to upwards of eight or nine million dollars. FOX Sport is reporting that the Marlins have had early discussions with the Baltimore Orioles and San Francisco Giants about a deal.
