Darren Sproles a Fit For The Eagles?
There is some speculation that the Eagles may have an interest in soon to be free agent running back Darren Sproles. I have a hard time imagining the Eagles are going to be interested in paying Sproles the kind of money he is likely going to command on the open market though.
While the Eagles do have a need for a back up running back with Brian Westbrook set to be released at the end of the week I am not sure Sproles fits the bill for the Eagles. Sproles showed last season that he is very much a niche player a-la Reggie Bush who is great in space but does not do well running the ball from traditional sets.
With that said I would not rule it out entirely depending on what kind of money Sproles is willing to settle for. Of late Reid has adopted a “you can never have too much speed on offense” mantra and Sproles has plenty of speed. Reid has fallen in love with guys like Westbrook and DeSean Jackson who he can line up in the back field or split out as a receiver, and, he would also be someone who could return kicks and punts.
Sproles to Philly is an interesting idea and Reid could have a lot of fun with him. I just have a feeling the Eagles feel their money may be better spent in free agency addressing other needs.
