NFL: Navarro Bowman Enters the 2010 NFL Draft

Penn State junior linebacker Navarro Bowman announced he would enter the 2010 NFL Draft Monday.  The 6′ 2″/235 pound linebacker said he decided to leave because it was time for him to start taking care of his family.

Bowman and Texas’ Sergio Kindle are expected to battle it out for the top spot at outside linebacker at the combine.

Bowman is a reliable tackler who excels at running down and containing ball carriers.  He can also run with and cover most running backs and tight ends on pass plays.  The biggest knock on Bowman is he gets swallowed up by bigger blockers and struggles to shed blockers at times.

Navarro also comes with some off the field baggage having been put on probation and suspended from the team for his role in an off campus fight.

He is considered to be mid-first round prospect by most of the experts and could go as high as 11th to the Broncos who could use a play maker at the linebacker spot.

Jacksonville and Miami are both lacking run stoppers at linebacker and could be possibilities for Bowman as well.
