MLB: Boston Reaches Agreement with Mike Cameron
The Red Sox and Mike Cameron have tentatively reach and agreement on a two-year deal that would make him Boston’s starting left fielder next season. The deal is pending Cameron passing a team physical this week.
With outfielders Jacoby Ellsbury, J. D. Drew, and Jeremy Hermida all on the roster for next season this likely means the Red Sox are completely withdrawing from the Jason Bay sweepstakes.
While Cameron likely gives the team an upgrade in left field defensively he is only a .250 career hitter with 20 to 25 home run power and is not the middle of the order hitter the Sox are looking for to protect Victor Martinez and Kevin Youkilis at the top of the order.
I doubt the Sox are done tweaking the roster just yet and the addition of John Lackey increases the likelihood Boston deals Clay Buchholz to get a middle of the order bat that plays either first or third base.

It would be pretty awesome if they could sign Adrian Beltre and acquire Adrian Gonzalez.
But if they get Gonzalez and Beltre where does Youkilis play? I don’t see them getting both it would be one or the other.
